The crisis in Syria has affected millions of people. Among other pressing humanitarian priorities, Syrian youth in particular are in danger of becoming a ‘lost generation’ due in part to the lack of available and affordable avenues for higher education within Syria and in host neighbouring countries.
Together with the Raoul Wallenberg Institute (RWI), we contributed to create career opportunities for displaced Syrian law students in neighbouring countries. We partnered with the Beirut Arab University (BAU) in Lebanon and Jordan University in Amman to establish institutes that will allow young Syrian law students to obtain or finalise a graduate or post-graduate degree in Syrian law while in exile.
This project helped young Syrians to obtain a higher education in Syrian law and provided them with skills in human right standards so that they can participate in reconstruction of their country.
