On Wednesday, July 15, 2020, ILAC’s member the International Legal Foundation (ILF) will be featured in a virtual side event during the United Nations High-Level Political Forum to discuss how the organisation is advancing SDG16+ in Palestine.
For months, the ILF’s team has been fighting around the world to get people out of detention centers and prisons–cited by the World Health Organization as high-risk areas for coronavirus infection. In Palestine, the ILF team has navigated strict lockdown measures and advocated at the highest levels of government for swift action to protect the rights, safety, and liberties of people accused of crimes amidst COVID-19.
The ILF is one of five organisations selected as finalists in the Voices of SDG16+ video campaign, which asked individuals and organisations around the world to share their “best practices and extraordinary efforts being undertaken towards SDG16+ at the national and local levels, particularly in the face of the COVID-19 crisis.”
The event, Voices of SDG16+: Local actions for Global Solutions, will be held at 8 am EDT on Wednesday, July 15th. It will showcase a video illustrating the work of the ILF’s Palestine team followed by a presentation from Ghadanfar Kamanji, the ILF’s Country Director in Palestine.
The virtual event is co-hosted by Article 19, CSPPS, GPPAC, IPI, Life & Peace Institute, NAMATI, Pax Christi International, Saferworld, DHRI, Peace Direct, The TAP Network, and World Vision.
