ILAC is delighted to welcome the The Siracusa Institute as a new member organisation.
Based in Italy, The Siracusa Institute has been working to contribute to international peace and security through the effective implementation of criminal law and criminal justice, and to promote the rule of law and the protection of human rights in criminal justice systems worldwide.
ILAC’s 2017 Annual General Meeting in Tokyo voted unanimously in favour of the Institute joining our Consortium.
The Siracusa Institute provides capacity building and technical assistance programmes to judges, prosecutors, law enforcement officers, academics and lawyers as well as develop research projects.
As many as 48 thousand jurists from over 160 countries have attended Siracusa´s trainings, seminars and meetings of experts.
The Siracusa Institute also enjoys special consultative status with the United Nations and is part of the United Nations Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice Programme Network, which supports the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) in strengthening international cooperation in criminal matters.
