ILAC offered Mr Mohamed Tahar Hamdi a present in sign of appreciation for his efforts to facilitate the Consortium´s Tunisia Programme. Mr Hamdi is now retiring from his position as Director General of the Judicial Training Institute (ISM). Established in 1985, the Institute provides initial training for judicial auditors and in-service training of magistrates.
Mr Hamdi had the role of advisor for ILAC´s programme in Tunisia. “All our members who had the opportunity to work with Mr Hamdi had the pleasant feeling to have a warm, understanding person who always had his doors opened”, says Agneta Johansson, Executive Director of ILAC.
The Consortium was invited in Tunisia to assess how to rebuild the justice system just a few short weeks after Ben Ali’s departure in 2012. As from then, the consortium has been engaged with a number of training and technical assistance programmes that aim to help rebuild the justice system. ILAC´s assistance in Tunisia seeks promoting the strengthening of rule of law and protection human rights.
