Ms. Sareta Ashraph is an ILAC Advisory Council member. She joined ILAC in 2015. She is a barrister specialised in international humanitarian and human rights law. By the time of joining ILAC, she was the Analyst on the UN Commission of Inquiry on the Syrian Arab Republic investigating violations of international law in the context of ongoing events in Syria.
Ashraph currently serves as a Senior Legal Adviser to the Center for Justice and Accountability, focusing on projects aimed at advancing accountability for crimes in Syria and Iraq. Additionally, she acts as a Senior Legal Consultant to the US Holocaust Memorial Museum’s Simon-Skjodt Center for the Prevention of Genocide, supporting their intersectional analytical methods in genocide determinations and other international crimes. She holds the position of Co-Chair of the International Bar Association’s (IBA) War Crimes Committee.
